The sun is shining, flowers and blooming, and rejuvination is in the air! Spring’s fashion trends are bright with color, and the shades are echoed in makeup too this season. Bright purple eyeshadow and bold fuchsia lips are prominent on the catwalks and on celebrities. But is it possible to work this eye-catching trend into bridal makeup?
Well, I won’t say anything against blue eyeshadow, in case that’s your color of choice, but on your wedding day, colorful eye makeup will make your photos look dated. What you want is a classic look Keep your eye makeup colors natural, or smokey for added oomph.
Professional weddings makeup artist Lauren Napier, on Daily Makeover, says “Personally, I like makeup in bright colors but this is one trend you might want to avoid on your wedding day. Unless you’re a real Sex and the City kind of girl… As a bride, you want to appear to be a more glamorous, elegant version of yourself and this is hard to achieve with purple eye shadow. Remember, those pictures will last forever!”
She suggests that if you really want to make a color statement on your wedding day, go for a bold lip look. It’s easy to do, won’t detract from your gorgeous eyes, and photograhps well in color and black & white. “The rage this spring is a vibrant fuschia lip gloss like NARS Lip Lacquer in Hot Wired, a bold but a gorgeous hue that works on almost anyone.”
Generally, light shades of eyeshadow are the best for brides, brightening the eye and giving you a fresh, youthful look. InStyle suggests that if you do choose bold lips, forgo colorful eyes and keep the cheeks lightly flushed with a sheer blush. Perfect a bright pout by gently patting lipstick against the lip, then allowing the color to absorb to your desired shade.
So go ahead and explore the lipcolor palette of spring! Whether you choose a soft, pretty pink, bright cherry red, coral, peach, this season’s clors are fresh, sunny, and happy.
